John Rix Overview:

With a background in Photography and Design, John entered the CG industry at its infancy 25 years ago, and has spent the last 15 years with the interactive industry in a variety of art leadership and management roles pushing the boundaries of visual possibilities by exploiting technical advances with a classic visual sensibility.
John has a passion for defining and advocating the roles of 3D artists, their relation to other disciplines, their team structures, the tools they use, and the workflows and processes from pre-production planning through to maintaining quality and predictability through to the end of post production.
He has managed and provided strategic vision in the creation and growth of motion capture studios, video post production facilities, 3d tools and animation groups, and start-up studios, while also keeping directly connected to production realities acting as a supervising Art Director, and Senior CG Supervisor.
John has been credited with over 20 AAA titles, which have raised the bar and defined what quality means in console game visuals and animation.
When John takes a break from interactive production, he pursues underwater photography in British Columbia’s cold waters, or heads to the track for performance driving practice.
